How the psyche can affect our health
Our life is a rollercoaster ride With the corresponding effects on our psyche. There is hardly a person for whom it goes in straight lines. One minute you’re having a few happy days, the next problem awaits you. Unexpectedly a high bill flutters into the house, the car must be repaired and the washing machine does not work any more either.
We go through particularly hard times when a a beloved friend dies or a relationship goes to pieces. Overcoming grief and heartbreak require a lot of strength and patience. If the psyche is strongly attacked, health problems are often pre-programmed.
Mental and physical stress can make you sick
A stressful everyday life is part of normality for many people nowadays. In a way, you learn to cope with it and live. However, if this turns into strong chronic stress out of it, various diseases often appear. They are a warning signal of our body.
But what is stress anyway?? It is a reaction, conditioned by different external factors and takes place in the brain. Just by our thoughts we can cause a feeling of stress. It puts us in an activation state, whereby tension is built up.
If stress is chronic, we are permanently under power. A constant release of stress hormones takes place, which in the long run consumes all energies.
Illnesses caused by stress
There are multitude of physical signs, that can be caused by stress. These include:
- skin problems,

- Menstrual cramps,
- digestive problems,
- Sleep disorders,
- heart problems and arterial problems,
- Weight gain.
An alarming sign is the number of people who suffer annually from a Heart disease die. In Germany almost every fourth death is due to a diseased heart. Women are more often affected than men. Surprisingly, the former undergo treatment for heart disease significantly less frequently than the male sex.
What to do to balance the psyche during stress?
